In this corner, we have Greg Abbott, the Texas Attorney General. In the other corner, we have the US Supreme Court and their recent ruling in Windsor.
Well, most folks would be concerned about a Supreme Court decision that guts your position. But not our Texas Attorney General. Or our soon to be gone governor, Rick Perry, for that matter.
So, just to add insult to injury, the IRS has now chimed in. Revenue Ruling 2013-17 which was issued yesterday will now allow same sex couples to file joint tax returns (thanks to Matt McClintock of Wealth Counsel for the heads up).
Pretty strong right? But wait; you can file a joint return in any state. Even those that don’t allow gay marriage or recognize the right of same sex divorce.
